Broken Garage Door Spring Repair
Garage door springs do the actual lifting. The opener just guides the door; the springs carry the weight. When one breaks you'll usually know it — a bang like a gunshot, and then a door that either won't budge or feels impossibly heavy.
Springs are under serious tension even when the door is closed, which is why this is a job for someone with the right winding bars and the right replacement parts. We replace them, balance the door, and check the hardware the broken spring was pulling on.
Signs you're dealing with this

- A visible gap in the coiled spring above the door
- The opener strains, hums, or lifts the door a few inches and quits
- The door is extremely heavy to lift by hand

Right spring, not just any spring
Springs are sized to the weight and height of your specific door. Wrong size means a door that's out of balance and an opener that wears out early.

On a two-spring door, if one broke the other is the same age with the same cycles on it. We'll tell you honestly whether replacing the pair makes sense.

Balanced before we leave
A correctly balanced door will stay put roughly halfway open when you lift it by hand. That's the test we run.
