Track Repair & Door Off Track
A door off its track is the one that looks the worst and worries people the most — the door is hanging at an angle, sometimes wedged, and it's obvious nothing good happens if it lets go.
Leave it where it is and don't run the opener. Forcing a door that's off track bends the tracks further and can pull rollers and hinges out of the sections. Getting it re-seated properly usually also means finding out what put it off track in the first place.
Signs you're dealing with this
- The door is visibly leaning or hanging out of the opening
- Rollers sitting outside the track channel
- Bent, kinked or pulled-apart track sections
- The door binds, scrapes, or stops at the same spot every time
- A loud grinding sound as the door passes one point

Door secured before anything else
An off-track door is under load in a way it wasn't designed for. First step is making it safe to work on.

Track straightened or replaced
Minor bends can be worked out. Kinked or torn track gets replaced — a hidden bend will put the door off track again.

Root cause found
Broken cable, worn rollers, loose track brackets or something in the door's path. Re-seating without fixing the cause just buys a few weeks.
